Our Connection
“A mutual friend and colleague introduced me to Samuel and Marissa Tang and the wonderful mission and work of OneVine Foundation. After our initial meeting, it was clear to see OneVine Foundation's heart and passion for their mission and that a partnership between My Safe Harbor and OneVine Foundation made perfect sense. OneVine Foundation's mission is to honor the Ruths of Today by providing financial support through partnerships with nonprofits serving women in need. My Safe Harbor's mission is to strengthen families by empowering and equipping mothers. With the generous support of OneVine Foundation and their commitment to coming alongside organizations serving women, My Safe Harbor's mission and work is both amplified and energized. Through their financial support, OneVine Foundation's impact will affect more than 120 families and positively influence many generations to come. Thank you OneVine Foundation for honoring and deeply caring about women and the nonprofits working hard to support them.”
Our Impact
1. What adversity has she faced and how did she exemplify resilience? Coming from Mexico and leaving her whole family, knowing that she would be alone, was a moment of uncertainty for Kika. She faced this challenge with courage and determination and put her faith in God to guide her. Though difficult to be an immigrant in a foreign country, Kika managed to overcome adversity, successfully raise her 4 children, and now helps other mothers who have also immigrated to this country.
2. How has she demonstrated unwavering sacrifice and what was the outcome? Kika had to sacrifice time with her family and miss important events in order to achieve her goals. Her family has been supportive and allowed her to grow professionally and personally achieving a better relationship with her spouse and children.
3. In which ways have you seen them place their trust in the Lord? Kika is a person who always lets herself be guided by God. She asks him for wisdom to be able to make correct decisions. She relied on God during difficult times in her life.
4. Tell me a time when you saw a great sense of humility displayed? Kika is one of the longest time volunteers at My Safe Harbor. Since 2014, she has remained involved with the organization and is always willing to help. In her own time, she became a life coach to encourage and equip others. She is now one of our SFI facilitators and continues to humble herself to serve those around.
