Celebrating MOMS and Their Heart of a Mother Recipients

Since 2018, MOMS hosts their Healthy Beginnings, Bright Futures celebrating the moms in their community. Each year MOMS chooses a need to focus on and this year’s focus is on infant and development. This means that individuals have the opportunity to invest in the earliest stages of life and infancy for long-term impact on childhood health and wellness. OneVine and MOMS started their strategic partnership in 2025 and since then, we have been able to support and witness the impactful difference they are making in moms across Orange County.

On May 18th, OneVine had the honor of attending their Healthy Beginnings Bright Futures Rehearsal. During this sweet and intimate night, we got to meet the Heart of a Mother recipients and hear their stories. Not only did we get to hear their stories of resilience, but we were able to surprise the three recipients with a Ruth Gift. Each women received a $500 Target Gift Card and a handwritten card to encourage her!

Your Impact, Their Stories

Miracle Teleni

Miracle is a devoted mother who carries her challenges quietly, often choosing to focus on the joy her children bring rather than the challenges she faces along the way. With a 6 year old, twin toddlers, and a newborn, she manages a demanding household that can be overwhelming at times. Despite these pressures, she consistently shows up for her children with patience, gratitude, and unwavering love. Her commitment to their growth is evident—driving from Anaheim to MOMS with both twins to attend monthly developmental sessions, eagerly learning, practicing activities, and creating joyful moments away from the stress of home. Throughout her time with MOMS, Miracle has embraced every resource and opportunity offered, including Mommy & Me classes and ongoing support from the team. Her calm presence, deep faith, and gentle strength have only grown as her family has expanded. What makes Miracle exceptional is not just her resilience, but the grace with which she carries it—quietly, humbly, and with a heart centered on her children. When one thinks of the “Heart of a Mother,” Miracle embodies it fully.

Gisela Meroni

Gisela is unique among our mothers. Born without hearing and the resources to learn sign language, Gisela, a 33yearold mother, has faced an extraordinary series of challenges with courage and determination. Despite profound communication barriers, she navigates daily life with remarkable independence and although her baby was born two months prematurely, she remained organized, proactive, and deeply committed to her child’s development, fully embracing the education and support offered by her MOMS care team. She stands out for applying every bit of guidance and coaching by her home visitor Josie. She also attends weekly Mommy & Me groups which help her to connect with other mothers and helps baby Amelio to continue thriving. Currently, she communicates primarily through phone texting and via iPad and uses specialized devices at home to help her respond to baby Amelio’s needs. Josie and Molly, her RN case manager, are determined to walk beside Gisela during her journey and have helped her navigate numerous obstacles and barriers relative to accessing health care, insurance and other services. Those barriers continue to this day, even as they attempt to get Gisela in front of specialists for a hearing evaluation – something she has never received -- as well as beginning to learn sign language. Thanks to Gisela’s openness, persistence, and love, Amelio is thriving at 15 months, meeting his developmental milestones for his age. Gisela’s resilience, joy and devotion shine through every part of her story.

Ana Huerta

Ana Huerta exemplifies resilience, determination, and profound personal growth. She joined our program in 2023 with her first pregnancy, engaging fully in services and bringing a genuine desire to learn and prepare for motherhood. Her baby was born healthy, but at one month of age, contracted a devastating diagnosis of viral meningitis which significantly impacted him. During the ensuing days and months, Ana chose to face her new reality with unwavering care and love knowing that her baby needed every ounce of strength she could muster. She quickly adapted to a demanding new journey as a mother —managing medications, therapies, medical equipment, and countless appointments for her son—all the while advocating for his needs. Amid this emotional and logistical weight, Ana became pregnant with her second child, yet continued to participate consistently in services and prioritize her family’s wellbeing. After welcoming her second baby, she decided to channel her stress into positive lifestyle changes knowing her family needed her to be healthy. She committed to regular exercise and achieving significant health improvements that boosted her confidence and emotional wellbeing. Ana’s journey reflects extraordinary perseverance and a deep commitment to creating a healthier, more stable life for her children. Her strength, advocacy, and personal transformation make her truly deserving of recognition of the MOMS Heart of a Mother award.
